    Hi there,

I have a strange problem arising. Let me tell you the story behind it.

On 15th December, among the 100k wordpress websites getting affected by hackers, mine was one of them. My site "peacequranacademy.com" was hacked and some malicious malware was put on it. When Google flagged it, i immediately cleaned it up and google removed the flag.

In the meantime, i called up my server support (hostgator) and told them about what happened. They registered a ticket saying there could be a possible compromise and hence they need to investigate. I was happy with the words they said and i said fine go ahead. Then before they did anything, i cleaned my site and things were back to normal. After about a week, then respond to my ticket saying that my site is under going investigation for possible malware attack.

When i tried opening my site, i could see my website's file manager on the server. I was shocked. Then i contacted the support again and they said they can do nothing as process is going on. I thought maybe it is something to do with investigation. so i requested them to atleast make sure that file manager isn't visible to everyone. So that agent did something and since then when i opened peacequranacademy. com is shows "server timed out".

Yesterday they mailed me saying process has completed and that they did not find anything wrong with the site now. And that everything is normal. But when i checked the site is still down.

Does anyone know about this? hostgator support is clueless! Please help as my client is killing me.

once again you need to ask HostGator support to check & fix the issue.
if they can't provide support then you have to hire someone experienced.

HG has been having some problems. I am not sure what the problem is in this case as I have never seen that kind of page returned before.

Can you upload/create a test file on your hosting and access it? If not, then HG must have shut down or suspended your account and not re-enabled it. Try their chat support (I understand you can wait 30 minutes, but that will be faster than submitting a support ticket). If they are done checking your account for viruses, there is no excuse for them not re-enabling it promptly.

Well i found out what the problem is. Hostgator while investigation my sites for any malicious softwares, ruined the "Revslider" plugin as recently we came to know that this plugins old version caused the security breech for many sites.

I deleted the plugin and lo! the website opened up. But this i could do on other domains. But this specific domain "peacequranacademy . com" doesn't open even now. But this time the error is "server timed out".
