I was looking the details of Casinotropez.com site and they have the IP in Bouvet Island and the DNS in Virginia-USA.

    How can they do it?

The whois display the following info:

    Server Data
    Server Type: Apache
    IP Address: 64.69.80.82
IP Location Bouvet Island - Bouvet Island - Easymanaged
    Response Code: 200
    Blacklist Status: Clear
Domain Status: Registered And Active Website

    Domain servers in listed order:
    UDNS1.ULTRADNS.NET
    UDNS2.ULTRADNS.NET
    PDNS3.ULTRADNS.ORG
    PDNS4.ULTRADNS.ORG
    PDNS1.ULTRADNS.NET
    PDNS2.ULTRADNS.NET
    PDNS5.ULTRADNS.INFO
    PDNS6.ULTRADNS.CO.UK

Where ULTRADNS.NET is in Virginia USA

    Anyone can explain me?

They have their nameservers hosted by a company in US. It's nothing special really.

    Hi,

The DNS server that a site uses is completely irrelevant to where the server is that actually hosts the web content is located. In fact, it is a good idea to have your DNS servers as geographically dispersed as possible to limit or reduce the impact of outages.

The whois data for the IP address may or may not be accurate as it is dependent on what organization registered the net block and if the data has been update in some time. It is not a reliable source of determining where a server is located.

Your best bet is to ask the owner of the site where their server is located. You could also try getting a traceroute on the server and see if you can determine the location of one of the last few hops.

Well, I would like to know how they have the IP in Bouvet Island and the server in USA (I don't know if they have it in USA, only suppose).
It is a good technic to hide the real info about your server location.

Due to certain laws and regulations you can't have online casinos hosted in US/EU so you need to take it offshore. Naturally, the speed offshore isn't so great, which is why most content like downloads/images is delivered from a server in the US, while keeping the actual core of the site offshore.

    Hello :)
I joined this group because i was looking for information about this "mysterious" site with IP on Bouvet Island.

I have in my page a counter that registers the visits according to the geographical localisation of the IP, it is a simple image with this address:

    http://s02.flagcounter.com/count/rzN/bg=FF7F50/txt=000000/border=CCCCCC/columns=3/maxflags=300/viewers=0/labels=1/.jpg

I managed to get visits from almost every country of the world.
Do you have any idea how i could add a "virtual" visit from Bouvet Island too? I tried to contact the owners of this Casinotropez.com but without success.
The address 69.90.74.226 was listed amongst proxies some days ago but it doesnt work. I also looked through tor addresses but unsuccesfuly too...
How can they appear as Bouvet Island? May i get somehow this "signal" with my counter?

Sorry if i wrote nonsenses i'm not professional :D
Thank you in advance for your help :)
