Can you help point out with any freeware FTP client software to be used on a Vista PC capable of transferring files from from one hosting company to another. I try to save on the transfer to the PC and then back to another hosting platform. Cheers
You should talk with your host(s) about this, as they should be able to move stuff from one server to another. Most hosts block FXP transfer (server to server with a middle man).
You can with FXP but I doubt your host supports that. I agree with RHS-Chris, your host should do it for you if they really want you as a customer. The *best* way is to use the `scp` command on a ssh terminal if you're allowed SSH.
Thank you metelc - I'm not quite at that point of doing the transfer yet, I was thinking ahead of the solutions to an impending move. I should see if the new host will agree the move of the site to their severs.
Thank you nezZario, unfortunately, I'm not farmiliar with Linux commands and was loking for a windows based application which I'm most farmiliar with. But I guess I can rely on your support if I needed to go down that route? LOL
Thank you thewebhostingdir, I am looking at linx servers hopefully with access to WHM, partly planning to set up as a reseller and I believe these are the servers mostly in demand? Were you offering a deal?
Thank you RHS-Chris, Do you reckon this is standard procedure when signing up to a new host?, I've not looked up your credits yet, but presume you offer reseller packages?
This is for sure standard, as hosts want to make sure you are happy with choosing them to begin with. I also do not offer reseller packages through my site, however, if you are in need of one, get in touch with me via PM and we can talk more.
Let me know your server requirements and budget. We will migrate all your accounts if you have WHM/cPanel with your current host. Our servers are fully managed by us. Please PM me so that i can get back to you with our Dell promotional server offer.
And that is the kicker, you have to be using cPanel to cPanel or Plesk to Plesk, then I know at least a few hosts that will do the transfer, if you changing to a different one, I suspect most DC's will charge some sort of admin time, as that can get pretty ugly.
