Server Load 1009.86 (4 cpus) Memory Used 97.5 % yeah.....someone care to explain that one? O_O that is not normal, and im not doing anything at the moment. And my site is laggy. Not my server. Friends server bought for public hosting what would cause such a spike? O_O everything else looks normal
It sounds bad, but you're not really giving enough information. What OS is it running, what programs, etc? What do you mean by "everything else looks normal"?
Well it could be 100 things we need to know A LOT more info.. post your top info. I can help you if you want hit me up on AOL (only kool). I have extensive security exp, I was head of security for one of the largest billing companies in the U.S.
well i dont know much about servers at all. Im just hosting from a website offering public hosting. Something like godaddy but not as huge and it happens to be a friend of mine. I just know how to view the specs in cpanel. which are this: syslogd up eximstats up exim (exim-4.66-3_cpanel_maildir) up antirelayd up exim-225 up httpd (1.3.37 (Unix)) failed pop up named up imap up cpsrvd up mysql (4.1.22-standard) up ftpd up Server Load 1178.54 (4 cpus) Memory Used 96.4 % Swap Used 22.31 % Disk /dev/sdc1 (/backup) 70 % Disk /dev/sda5 (/) 14 % Disk /dev/sda7 (/home) 34 % Disk /dev/sda8 (/tmp) 7 % Disk /dev/sda1 (/boot) 18 % Disk /dev/sda2 (/var) 61 % Disk /dev/sdb1 (/home1) 10 % Disk /dev/sda3 (/usr) 66 % as far as anything else i have no clue. But the site i run is a fan site from a game. But its a non-wanted place.(a place to openly tear apart players off site) Which some members dont appriciate. So im assuming someone off the game is poking my site somehow. My host is away from keyboard and told me to message him whenever what i have in bold goes like that so im assuming its bad. He never told me what causes it what other info should i get to help you help me?
Oh, well its just a C-Panel acct, you need to contact your friend and ask him WTF is happening. See the problem probably isn't even you, it could be another person on the same server. I was using a shared host to run "theblogsoltion" I about shut the server down because I was overloading the entire box it could easily be another customer on the box. The server admin needs to look into this for you, someone with command line access to the box.
I found out what the huge explosion was. My host does a full backup at 2 am of everything which is why everything went berserk for 20 mins. thank you everyone tho for trying to help
that server load is not possible , if it happenned to take all that load , there would be a hardware failure .
Yea...over 1000 load figures is simply over the roof stuff. Maybe h/w issues, improper kernel or misconfiguration.
