I'm having some massive problems with one of my hosting companies, though before I start pointing fingers I'd like to check some facts first. Basically the story is that about 24 hours ago I noticed that my MySQL server was down - or the databases were down at least. The rest of the HTML sites were all running as normal. I contacted support about the issue and they informed me that the server would have to be rebooted. I noticed half an hour later that all the sites were now down and have not been back up since. The communications from support are as follows, I'm a little suspicious of the reasons that they're giving me, 1. How can a .zip file be downloaded to the server, I'm not running any scripts that allow .zip files to be uploaded. 2. Even if this was possible, wouldn't it effect just one site rather than all of them? 3. How come originally it was just a MySQL problem, but after the reset everything went down? I'd fully appreciate any advice that anyone could give me on this
A email can have a zip inside. I have no idea what kind of server you have if you share it or its dedicated? But if you have shared they should have backups beucase that mean they maybe lost 1000 of other domains as well if the server is bugger. If you have dedicated well then you should keep the backup right? Most problem start with Msql and then that bugger the whole system. A server with only HTML and no EMAILS would run soooo smooooth Ask them to send you the server log i am sure they have one that show that this ZIP file killed the whole server.
It's definately a dedicated server. I'm also not using it for email. I'll aske them to send me the server log as you suggest. Thanks
I had the same problem with my former host. He said you can have unlimted domains when i bought the package and even now it said unlimted. I have over 250 domains and he said you domains are making problem for my server. I asked WHAT domian was doing the problem? He could not answer and every time the server went down he blame my domains but he could never say WHAT domain was the problem. Finally i moved them all to Hostgator and i left 3 domains with only HTML and he still blame my domains for the problem. If you think you server is messing with as some of them are change. If you do not trust them change, its your life line. Its sad that people in the server field would say anything to blame the customer when they did a uppgrade or switch the wrong button.
