Server location has much effect??

    I always use a UK host, mainly due to the fact I believe it benefits me in the serps but also because I can ring them and email them during the same hours I work.

    Agree, unless you're a hobbyist most people with a decent budget host in their home country as it's far better support-wise, you can get hold of them on the phone easily and if you need to meet to discuss requirements it's far easier!

    I am hosting with servage.net. It's very cheap. Fair amount of disk space and data transfer, and unlimited domains.

    I think Dreamhost has a similar deal. I may open an account there and move some of my domains to see what happens.

    I know that it is always possible to dominate SERPs no matter where you are hosted. BUT i assume it would take more work (more back links) to gain/maintain good SERP placement for US based searches when hosted outside US.
