I know in a Matt Cutts video he mentions it but has anyone seen and dramatic changes moving servers to a specific country when targeting that country. For example say you're seo'ing a site for Japan and want to rank on google.jp - how important is it that you also host in Japan as well as have a country specific URL
Yes, That is true. This is called as Geotargeting and the search results show inclination to local domain TLDs and also hosting location from what i have learned. regards josh
i think its a small factor.. your rankings still depends on the content of your site.. since that's what your visitors look into your site..
It is a small factor but one of value, it also helps to have a country domain, with country hosting for example .ca hosted in Canada shows better rank on Google.ca
