I've got shared hosting with a number of wordpress sites on it. All tick over nicely and load quick enough. I've just changed one site from wordpress to phpld and initially it loaded well but after a day it suddenly slowed down. Is this a software issue or a hosting issue? Any tweaks I can do?
If you haven't found your solution yet then put in a call or ticket to your hosting provider. If it is a software issue they will let you know and they may be able to even make some suggestions to help you get it corrected more quickly.
This could be attributed to a number of things. Server load, Overselling, Your Software Load, HW Issues, etc. Your best bet is to contact your provider directly and they should be able to walk you through the process of finding the direct cause. Any good host would be able to at least do this for you. Then once you figure out the issue they should be able to provide you with a solution. Hope this helps!
Thanks, I'll do that. The site is, apparently, running fast for users in the US despite being slow as treacle for me. I figured, initially, that since other sites on the server were fast and this one is slow that it would be a site and not a server issue.
A crowd called kiwilink in NZ, they're fine - seems it might be my vodafone connection - it's fast for everyone but me
Yeah, kinda, working for everyone except the person who really needs to get in there and approve the listings
URH! Yeah - I have been there, like when the internet goes out here and then customers are calling for tracking numbers and no way to access website......so frustrating!
Ok, a bit more digging and this isn't a site problem anymore Site is fast for everyone but me - even on my home network Site is slow on all browsers I've changed my dns settings from the ISP to google's I've cleared out my browsing history/cache etc I've rebooted (this is windows after all) A tracert from my PC to the problem site and my blog on the same server give very similar results. Interestingly at step 5 there is a noticeable pause for all the sites on the server that I tested even though the results don't bear that out. What is left to do?
Try changing your DNS server on your computer and seeing if you have better luck. I'd suggest something like google's public dns 8.8.8.8.
That's really weird... what if you try to retrieve a static file so it's not going through PHP/application layer on the server?
Good point. Normal speed. http://realstate.ws/uploads/media/1/home3.jpg So we're back to the hosting/scripts?
Only on the fast sites This one is phpld - was fast for the first couple of days and I had a few dns issues initially which is why I went and reset them to google's and have done flushdns more than I probably need to in an entire lifetime.
