I am having this problem , my server is in canada and i ranking very high on google.ca ; msn.ca ...etc... if i will change my web hosting to a USA one, will i rank more high for google.com & msn.com !? how fast i will see changes?!
If you still have a .ca domain name, I think you'll be okay. My site is hosted in the USA, but because it has a .co.uk domain name it ranks well on the UK search engines. IP address is more important if you have a .com, .net, .org, .etc domain name. Cryo.
To conclude, lets not say 'okay' and all.. If you want to rank for .ca SERPS, host from a Canadian IP.. for .uk serps in UK IP and so on..

I believe you'll need to host in the U.S. if you want to rank better in google.com's. I base this solely on the fact that I host numerous American sites that all do very well in google.ca - when the only think Canadian about the site is that they're hosted in Canada. I'm planning on moving some of my sites to the U.S. to test this, but expect it to increase the rankings in google.com. The emphasis on country hosting is a bit bizarre between Canada and the US since the 'hosting borders' are so transparent between the two countries. I believe there's a similiar issue between some of the UK related countries. There's tons of Canadian sites hosted in the US and tons of AMerican sites hosted in Canada.
Sorry, I was talking about "Country TLD" instead of TLD. Combination of Country TLD and IP is better than IP or Country TLD alone. Excuse for my bad english (if got any), its my 3rd language btw
Yes i agree, if you are ranking well in .ca let it be, there is a chance of adverse effect if you change your host.
I am also ranking very well in .com , but i am on #20 for a very competive keyword *while in .ca I am on #1) and i would like to be in #10 for .com even if i will be nowhere in google.ca lol
