i posted this on vB.com yesterday, but no one has replied... I could really use some help in trying to diagnoss this.

    -------------------

Been up and running on my new box for about a week now. Today, i've run into a couple hiccups where it will just lock up for about 20 seconds, and then be back to normal.

Once I can get back in, load is low (~1) mem usage is normal (28%) swap file is minmal (1-3%)

Is there a log i can look at to find out what's happeneing? (I'm new to being unmanaged)

Have you been able to login to ssh and check the load and other things at the time when the server stopped website serving? The temporary issue could be related to a cronjob running at specific intervals, but you can help yourself only if you get a chance to check what's going on the server at that time. Or checking cron logs might provide some clue.

What do you mean by "lock up"? I had some dns problems with my new vps server so maybe this is your case. If by any chance you have Direct Admin you can find log files under Admin lever->Log viewer. Else ssh as root and find the log files.
