    Hey guys,

It's getting to the point where I need to think about a dedicated server for my sites. My host keeps shutting down my sites because they are using too many resources. I am wondering if any of you have any suggestions. I am also considering a server at home, but don't know much about that. If you could direct me to any good resources that would also be apreciated.

Some info on the sites: There are nine sites, I think, requiring a total of 250 GBs of bandwidth a month or so. I anticipate this increasing dramatically (possibly doubling) in April and then again in Aug, Sept. so that needs to be considered also. If you need any other specs just let me know.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Wow, that's an awful lot of bandwidth you're going through there. You really have two options:

    1. Put a server in a data centre and pay for co-location/bandwidth
    2. Rent a T1 (or better) line and put a server on the end of it (at home/work/whatever)

I haven't got much experience with dealing with sites generating that much traffic, but you might want to speak to a company such as Rack Space who only deal with dedicated servers. They were very friendly and helpful last time I spoke to them, even though it was obvious that my needs didn't even fit their cheapest solution. :)

    Try this:

    http://www.askwebhosting.com

You can search by how much money you want to spend. You can get 500GB/month or more for a reasonable price.

As far as home line goes, that would be too expensive and unreliable (the cost of T1 line, even partial; serious UPS; alarm system; etc).

Thanks for the direction guys, I really like the askwebhosting.com site. Also a T1 line is around $450, so thats way to expensive for us *agreeing with JD*. Even a 384K is around $280 a month. For that kind of jack you can get all the bandwidth you would ever need (atleast for me). Now I just need to pick the hosting I want to go with.
