Yeah, he was going through the boxes... making sure everything was there and working. He just finished wiring up a 220V connector for the chassis too. I think I hear him in there testing the voltage now.
Yes... it's easy but more costly than a human assimilation because the parts need to be smaller (more expensive to manufacture).
I don't think they're live at the mo (got an error a while back) - we'll have to wait 'till he hooks everything up.
Yes, they are being setup. Switch has been configured, chassis configured and installed SuSE Linux Enterprise 9.3 on the first blade yesterday. Once I get blade 1 configured exactly how I want, I'm just going to see if I can use the RAID mirroring that each blade has to replicate it across all 10 blades. That way I don't have to manually install everything for each blade. The data center should have 220V wired up for me by this weekend.
Am I the only one who can't wait? I'm like a kid waiting to unwrap his XMas prezzies! Kind of like this... ... but then the exact opposite! Courtesy of komar.org via Google Images...
Story behind that T0PS3O picture: Some friends were staying with us and we were watching their kids while they were out at a party, so that's not my son. He was a bit bummed because the "Walking Santa" would stop going up and down the ladder when people from the Internet would turn him off. So then I gave him the X10 control so he could do it himself ... and he was a lot happier as can be seen below. Even more details in the 2005/12/11 update on my christmas page and I just noticed that you can see the D-Link DCS6620G wireless webcam in the background here.
shawn's busy approving my blog comments. and also, you may notice that those two chicks are all over him, but he's aching to get to that guy
Coming along... http://www.digitalpoint.com/~shawn/2006/05/a-server-configuration-day.html Was gone this weekend, but had a chance to fine tune some stuff today (Apache tuning, rc/init for memcached, etc.) I'm kind of waiting for the memory to get here so I can get more than 1GB per blade in there (12GB per blade is coming).
