Im running Intel Dual Xeon 3Ghz 1GB RAM x 2 = 2048MB 1 x 250GB Drive 2000GB BW 8IP's And today it started running alittle slow with sites loading slow. When checking the connections they were at 677 connections and 25 per 1 second. This server should be able to handle this amount of connections shouldnt it ?? PGZ
I would think so, but still, that's a pretty good load you've got going on there. Quite possibly it's not just the apache threads though, it could be all the mysql calls running behind each of those apache threads (if you're running mysql calls). Or something like that anyway - depends on what each of those apache calls is doing when it calls the page.
Well I was told by my server management that it was that the port was flooded thus causing the slowdown. They restarted everything and it ran like a champ again but as of right now there is only 247 connections and its slow again. It was slow when it dropped down to just 41 connections also. They are looking into it as I type this. I was on vacation all last week and had limited access. I did see a massive drop in revenue after the 5th of July and just thought it was the holiday and then followed by the weekend that may have caused this. But as I watched it today since Im home now I saw the server slow with a load and without a load. People dont like to wait for pages to load (especially if they have Broadband) and thus leave the site just for that fact. This explains the drop in revenue while the traffic remained the same almost. I hope they find a resolve to this soon cause it has cost me about $800-$1200 in the last 4 days........OUCH PGZ
