I have a website for which I want to change the domain name as well as the hosting server. The original site is say, www.site-usa.org and the new name would be www.site-us.org.I have already done my SEO work on the original site www.site-usa.org, and don't want to loose that work or SERP's So, now what I did is redirected new domain (www.site-us.org) to www.site-usa.org using a 301 redirect. Is that allright from the SEO point? Will my search engine rankings still be the same? If this is ok, then should I submit my new domain to all the search engines and directories? In this case, will I need to remove my old domain-name form the search engines? Also, I want to use google analytics on this site. So where should I add the code - to www.site-us.org or to www.site-usa.org? Iam totally confused with this change..plz help
If you want to use the new domain, put the old content on the new domain then redirect the old domain to the new one. Servers also have no effeect on your search engine optimization as long as they accept the last-modified-since (IIRC) HTTP header and are serving pages when the search engine spiders come along.
