Server affecting SEO?

Can anyone tell me if the type of server your website is hosted on affects SEO rankings. I was told that a Go Daddy Virtual Server is not good for SEO purposes since it is not on a Business ISP.

Anyone ever hear anything like this?

Location has to do a lot with your SERPs, but I haven't heard anything about GoDaddy not being good for SEO. Maybe they say it's not good because it goes down so much and their webhosting sucks. I Would stray away from GoDaddy as much as possible, let them focus on domains ;)

The sever can affect SEO if it so slow that it affects the page load times, or if it was down a lot. Other than that it's location affects where your site is in the local versions of the SERPS.

Other than that I wouldn't worry where my site is hosted as long as the service is good.

I agree with the previous guys, only effect SERP if it is very slow or if down a lot
