Would Yahoo discount a website in their SERPS when it sees that there is an adsense ad on it? It would seem that it would be in their interest to do so, would it not?
uuumm..yes. I'm ranked numero uno on Yahoo (out of 62 million sites) and number 1 on MSN as well for my keyword. I run Yahoo ads and I'm nowhere to be found on Google. So yes in my opinion, at least for Google anyway. However, I'll be replacing the ads in the next several weeks to see how this effects the rankings on Google. It will be interesting as I have had YPN ads on for about 6 months (or whenever YPN started). I know you asked for YPN but its the same situation.....
Well i think it could be the sandbox beacuse i run YPN on my website and im ranked 5th for a very competitive keyword.
No sandbox. I pop up every once in a while for keywords regarding tech gadgets that are on one particular page on the site. I've been ranked close to 60 or so but thats it. Sites been online for over 18 months now.
Yahoo and MSN are easy to get 1st page, if you can't get on Google that doesn't have to do with AdSense or YPN at all. Google is just harder.
Rethink the conspiracy theories. I had one site that was getting 60% traffic from Google, running only adsense, making $2,000+/month, and still got penalized. They seem to be strangely unbiased in this area, from what I've seen. There are other possible explanations for what happened to your site: #1 - Google "ages" links, giving them more value the longer they've been in place. In a crowded market like Gadget Blogs, I think it's safe to say that there's competition who have been in place much longer than you. #2 - Are you in the Yahoo directory? That may give you a boost. #3 - Are you links relevant to your topic? MSN and Yahoo don't seem to care nearly as much as Google.
How about the other way? I had a site (sold it but I still monitor) that had gobs of Yahoo keywords first page. Picked up Google Adsense and slowly but surely Google SEPR increased and Yahoo decreased and by more than a little both ways. Quite a few dropped out of sight on Yahoo. Coincidence?
For my keywords I'm listed number 3 in Yahoo and not even in the top 100 pages of Google. I run YPN ads on my site and I too have seen a decrease in Google and an increase in Yahoo after putting YPN ads on my site. So i think there is some sort of collation with it. Just my 2 cents but diffently not a mere coincidence.
i dont know, because now my website dont have either adsense or ypn ad on my site but its no shocking if they do that, because when company get big, they all tend to act as monopoly.
No, Yahoo can't do that due to legal issues, and they don't. I find almost all websites in the front page of Yahoo search results are running Adsense. If they discount thewebsites with adsense on it, the front page of results would yield adsense-free websites instead.
