I had a brief moment of glory today as i outranked the best for a search of "web master forums" on Google.

I did capture the results after picking myself up from the floor

    http://www.webdetector.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=1050#post1050

you can see for yourself 5th, 201 million results and higher than DP. Also just 1 below v7n. It didn't last too long lol but made me smile

I don't see it personally; are you using personalize search? Were you logged into any Google accounts? Where you viewing this with the Google toolbar? Many reasons why this could of happened ;)

no I am not claiming SEO miracles just something that made me smile.

I wasn't logged in or using personalized search
it just did it once and I couldn't repeat it.
I have no idea why, it was just good to capture. but guess it happens all the time as they update data centers.

How old is your site (Forum) ?

Google give a New Content Boost to new pages and new sites, this boost helps them rank high in search results. But this boost is only temporary.

May be you got that new content boost :)

Just wondering...if you don't mind sharing, how much of an increase in your traffic did you see for that day?

Strange, i get nowhere near 201 million.. This is what i'm seeing:

    webmaster forums = 2.3 Million
web master forums = 19.8 Million

Even the term "SEO" is only showing up 200 million, so it's strange you were seeing more then this for the webmaster forum terms. Is anyone else seeing 201 million?

maybe because you spelled webmaster wrong?

    web master instead of webmaster

i agree and yes i get the same figures as you now. it only happened once.

as to traffic i guess it made little difference as didn't impact for long I do seem to have around 50+ uniques more than normal.

Pretty cool post.. i have few conclusion regarding this topic..
First, is it because you have type it as web master and not webmaster..
Second, There are temporary high ranking to those site that are new.. Google give boost to those webpage..

Congrats! You made it, but closely watch your keyword. Maybe one or two, it's in nowhere.
