Two sites just starting to rank in MSN, and some lesser keywords in google, have both gone down the toilet. Saw a spike a couple if weeks ago, now, total adsense take in pennies per day, from several dollars a few weeks ago. I cannot figure it out. Both sites truly tanking, with uniques going down to almost nothing - recently joined up with LinksManager, and linking out to sites (on one of my sites), on the other, some directory submissions. I have stopped making contributions to the latter site's related blog, and stopped adding any appreciable fresh content. Do sites tank that quickly, typically, when you stop updating them? Can linking out bring this on, this precipitously? The sites in question: "www.a1-outdoors.com," and "www.village-drugstore.com". Any thoughts would be appreciated.
How new are the sites? New sites can fluctuate quite a lot in the serps for months. The key is to keep steadily building backlinks and it should all work out OK. A quick look at the first site shows no backlinks yet so I expect the site is still fluctuating.
Are the websites new ? If yes, in some cases, newly created (indexed) websites tend to rank pretty good for the first one month or so, and after that going back to where they belong. The sandbox. Graduately, over time, with you building the IBL's and putting fresh and new content every day (or not) they will grow to resume their natural positions.
Thanks, both of you. Yes, the sites are new - the first one went live early November, and the other one, about a month or so old now.
