    It was only brought to my attention yesterday what SERP is.

    So I decided to see what my site is index like on google and here is what I got:

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=site:thewebmasterstool.com&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

    Although I am a novice I do know that it doesn't look good.

    So What do I need to do?

    It has indexed my meta tages, should I remove them? But if I do then it disagrees with what other people told me which was a huge empasis on them.

    What are your adice to me?

    Thanks

    Actually, it does look good. You have lot's of pages indexed, and the pages have unique titles and meta tags.

    Meta tags do not affect your ranking, but the description tag is important because that's what you see on the search engines. You want the search engines to index your meta description tag - that's what it is for.

    Welcome, Guest. Please login or register. 1 Hour, 1 Day, 1 Week, 1 Month, Forever. Login with username, password and session length ...

    this doesn't look good at all. add in something like this:
    <meta name="description" content="Discuss PHP, SEO, Javascript...blah">

    but having 7,300 pages...phew. good luck. or maybe theres a script that can do this, like PHP? not my expertise though.

    So I take it that your advice is to change my meta discription tag.

    I will do that and hope it will change.

    However I can't change it for the forums nor the directory, so it should be easy as I use a TPL file sitewide, so I only need to edit one file
