SERP tools

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by mk24, Nov 29, 2008.

I've tried using several SERP tools, and they all can't seem to find my keyword. But when i do a manual search in Google, i find it on the first page. Does this happen to anyone else? I know digitalpoint.com has a SERP tool, but for some reason i cant perform a search, it returns an error about my google API key...

I have an additional question, I recently posted an article on the topic XXXX (sorry, thats my niche!!). and I am trying to target this keyword XXXX.
If i do a search on google (site:.com) for 'search XXXX', my article is on the first page (search results with keyword in quotes: 26,000). If i do a search for just 'XXXX' , i can't seem to find my site in the first 40 pages (thats why i wanted to use a tool, as discussed above). search results for 'XXXX' in quotes (650, 000; site:.com). I was wondering, since the page was obviously indexed, because it comes up for 'search XXXX', is it really a long shot for me to try and get it up to page one for just 'XXXX' ? since it is not even in the top 40 page results right now...

I use rank checker firefox plugin from seobook and some people also recommend free monitor (downloadable exe). You may want to use those, don't forget to choose google.com, google.co.uk (or other locations when you are trying to find your SERP).

If you're logged into google when you're searching - g mail, webmaster tools...anything google - then when you search yourself it's showing you personalised results.

You can test out SERP Checker
If you find the different in result most probably because of different Geo IP. Are you in the US?

I believe Magna's answer is probably the correct one. Check the tools at this thread to see your actual SERP: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1124810

yes, google search results may different by how you searched
    SERPs for google.com/search?q=keyword&num=10
The results are different than [ num > 10 ]
    eg: SERPs for google.com/search?q=keyword&num=20
you may try num=50 or num=100
That may the reason SERP web tools have some different than when you search G default setting (num=10)
