    It looks like SERP Titles are re-written, Does anyone know details regarding the same?

    Did you notice this? I think many of them should have noticed this already.

    The Google's SERP title for very popular websites are different from the page title. I am not sure if there are editors doing these manually!

    For the query "forums.digitalpoint.com" we got the following figure below

    But the actual Title is different

    I think that the forum is indexed with this title before and its not updated or maybe it's true that the titles are re-writen. :)

    Sometimes Google (and other search engines) uses Dmoz Titles.

    Example:
    http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Chats_and_Forums/

    To stop this you need to put:
    <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOODP">
    in you meta tags.
