i have a little question. assume i have a have a website www.test.be . This is the number 1 result in google.be (belgium) for the search query "test". But when i go to google.nl (the netherlands) and i search for "test" my site doesn't appear in the results. How can i make it also appear in the top results in google.nl just search for links from related websites in the netherlands, host a part of my site on servers in the netherlands, ....?
If you are a searcher searching google.be for sites from Belgium you would not want sites from the Netherlands to show up in the results. This is an intentional and very important feature of Google. If you want to show up in the Netherlands you need either hosting in the Netherlands OR a .nl domain name. Maybe if you had Netherlands hosting and a .be domain you could get in both but its not guarenteed.
google choose nearest dc to your country because of this your results are different from different counrtries. every dc has not the same data
I think this is the corect way ... you can olways aim for google.com it you whant to expand your area
could it help to take a countrey neutral extension like a .com because when i search in google.be for "webdesign" : http://www.google.be/search?hl=nl&q=webdesign&btnG=Google+zoeken&meta= netlash.com is on the first position when i search in google.nl for "webdesign" : http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=webdesign&btnG=Google+zoeken&meta= netlash is on the fith position. so there is a manner no ?
It has nothing to do with the location of the datacenter. Google will just alter their results depending on the location of the searcher. The datacenters will still be at Mountain View, CF. .com is the US extension, its not really neutral. If you have a .com hosted in Belgium it will appear in the google.be results. If its hosted in the Netherlands it will appear in the .nl results.
The best solution that I know of for this problem is to get your site translated into the local language (to avoid dupe content) put it on the local TLD and host it in the target country on an IP based there. As Mad4 says, Google deliberately work this way.
but this .com apears in google.be and google.nl : 1site,1server so this is just a matter of backlinks from belgium sites and backlinks from the netherlands ?
I believe it depends on the geographical reach of your website. One of my site ranked #1 for some search terms when it's searched from google.com.sg but ranks #17 on google.com. As the site is intended for a global audience, I'll still need some time to climb up SERP to 1st page of google.com. In another case, I've a site providing internet faxing service locally. It ranks on the 1st page of Google.com.sg and Yahoo.com.sg but not so good with Google.com and Yahoo.com. That's okay because I'm actually offering the service locally only. My suspicion on the good ranking on google.com.sg and yahoo.com.sg is because my hosting server is located here locally. This happens to 2 of my sites. Can't really confirm as all my other sites are with Hostgator.
It depends on several different factors, the main ones being, The TLD The IP location of the host server The IP location of the linking sites
I was just wondering. www or without the www make any difference. I mean I think it shouldn't but somewhere in my curious mind, I had that question stored.
