    Hello!

I have posted this on another forum but I got only 1 reply and I was thinking what do you guys have to say on this matter:

For example if you have a loans website... and you buy links on directories or websites and you use the anchor text for the link "student loans website"... Will the anchor text "student loans website" be as efficient as the anchor texts "student loans" and "loans website" when the users type "student loans" or "loans website" in the SE ?

    Thanks,
    Vlad

It's a bit complicated. It's most effective to use the exact keyword phrase. But you need to look at the bigger picure. Does using one arnchor text too often look natural? I think it's best to vary your anchor text to make it look more natural.

I agree, and also, you need to find out which keyphrase ppl are looking for, im sure that there are at list 5-10 MAIN keyphrases that ppl will look in the SE to find sites like yours, so do a bit of a research on which are the most popular searches for your nitche.

You can use googletrends, its a great tool for that kind of things.

    Good luck !!

I think "student loans website" can give value to both of your targeted keywords.

Do a keyword research at Google AdWords Keyword Tool:
    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

find out the keywords that have the higher search volumes. Use those most-searched phrases and their variations will help. I would not use the exact same keywords for all the links. I agree with what has been said here - they are not natural and can look spammy.

Check the websites from the top for what are ppls lookin for. Whats the "most wanted" key`s??? If the most results come from "student loans", dont waste your target adding "website", who will show up a bigger number of results.

Dont just try to optimise for highly competitive keywords but start off with keyword phrases and once you start ranking for them then slowly start off for the bigger keywords. you are right in one sense regarding the Off page SEO trick of having backlinks from multiple websites and directories with the keyword in the anchor text of the backlink, but getting many backlinks can get your website penalised too, so take care of that issue and also optimise your website in terms of On page Seo.
    Good luck
