Hello, I want to ask if anybody had this problem : after have a top 10 position for a keyword in google, now my site is for the same keyword on the page 5, 6 or 7. I cannot get the site back on the first page. Any suggestions ?
how long you had the top 10 position? if it was for a short period of time at the beginning, then that initial ranking is not something that holds over the long term. but if you had the ranking for a while and just recently changed, then it could be google dance or more competitors moving in with lot more aggresive link building campaign. hard to tell without more detailed info on the timeframe and background
You cannot get the site back on the first page , but did you build powerfull backlinks? I tell you this, new content and building backlinks all the time IS A MUST if you want positive results. And as sultanofseo said , the new websites get the "new site boost" but if you had your website up there for some time you might simply get penalised by google. Hope not and best wishes.
It is mainly due to the backlinks - see that your backlinks are still the same or they have decreased...
i am penalized , for sure , i had 4th position for month , for example eleslash if u have , i see in your signature jocuri cu masini what content do u add on your site ?
Get backlinks in a routine way slowly. Do onpage optimization. Don't get spammy links and irrelevant link exchanges. SERPs do dance sometimes. Don't loose heart.
I add games on my website , that is considered "content" for onArcade games sites. And time to time i write some content on the News section. But what niche do you cover with your website?
If your site is new you have just been sandboxed, if it is an old site than you probably changed something that google didn't like.
Everyone here is totally guessing. Without your URL, knowing what changes have been made to the site, knowing how old the site is, etc... there is no way to make even an educated guess as to what has happened... It could be 1 of hundreds (or even thousands) of things... Maybe you were penalized (for one of hundreds of reasons). Maybe Google's ranking algorithm changed causing a lot of your inbound links to be devalued. Maybe other sites previously linking to you no longer do. Maybe a lot of your links where FOLLOWed blog comment, forum comment, or article submission links and those pages containing the links are now only available and linked to from the archives. Maybe a lot of the pages on other sites that linked to you were dropped from Google's index (if they're not in the index, they won't count the inbound link cuz the link won't be in their citation/link graph). Maybe your site is relatively new and Google threw you a bone putting you on page 1 for a few weeks as they often do new sites or new pages (Google Honeymoon). Maybe something on the page or the way you interlink the page on your site has changed. Maybe nothing changed with your site, but others just got better at SEOing their site and have leap frogged you in the SERPs. I could go on... But even if we knew the URL of your site, at best people could only provide you with an educated guess as to why your rankings have dropped.
There can be several reasons which are mentioned above. But I think that it was the result of google dance.Just keep link building and getting backlinks.
