My hosting service will be moving to a new data-center starting Midnight, Friday March 28 for up to 48 hours. They are not certain when my sites will become unavailable or how fast it will come back up. They also informed me that my sites will be down a portion of the allotted 48-hour window. Will it hurts my SERPs?
Well, If the bot of search engine visited your website when it's off it will index the empty page or the error page that was available at the time, and you will lose all your ranking. after all the website will be up and running again and it will get reindexed with the old / new content so you will recover. Hope i was clear and helped you, REP is appreciated.
You should not worry about this, you will lose some traffic but it will only be for a short period of time.
I had my current crappy host move mine without my permission for several days before Christmas. I'm pissed, pissed, pissed about it still. My rank did drop in the SERPs a few places (same page), although I'm not sure if that was the only factor. I suspect it was a factor though.
I think you web hosting should do it in such a way that it will not affect your website so much, and it must not last than 48 hours, so that it will not affect your site so much. Good luck
I think you shouldn't be worry about this. Google takes care of such things...You just need to wait for a while...
Even if you lose some traffic it will be just for a short period of time. No need to worry. Google know hosting issues happen from time to time.
Just be sure you don't swap your homepage with some page that says your site is down and that you will be back, use the corect codes for this, or otherwise this page may get indexed instead your main one. The crawlers will continue browsing your site daily, on the regular basics they nromally do, the bigger it is, the more often they will check for it, and the harder they will give up to remove from index. But yes, 48 hours won't affect anything, just be sure the main page is not replaced.
If the site is down for two days it shouldn't be too bad. I had my site down for a few days with a 403 error and that was bad.
3 months back, my site was offline for the same reason but for 4 days. Because of this, I lost all my ranking in google and havnt recovered so far
