I've been link building for the last 6 months and I'm gradually moving up the serps. Here's my question: If I stop link building right now, will I continue to work my way up, or does Google hold you where you are as it's not finding new links? I know domain age is a factor, so in time I should end up better off, but would I see SERP improvements over the next couple of months if I stopped link building?
Hi, It's just my experience, but a few months ago I gave up link building for a site which were well placed on google. The result ? I was on the top five of google's first page for some keywords and now I'm at the end of this first page and sometimes I'm even at the top of second one ! SEO is nothing but a no end job. with link building, the more, the better
if you stop the link building, your serp will decrease because there are too many competitor and they will continue to build backlinks
Yeah! Don't stop link building. This will help ur competitors to be at the top. But some of the backlinks (dirs) will take some time to establish. So there is a small probability that u get god result.
If it's a non-competitive keyword term then onpage optimisation will get you good rankings, but if it's competitive, like a lot of keyword terms, then onpage optimisation alone, will not get you anywhere. You need serious good quality links, preferably one-way.
Hello... If you want Better Rankings then i would suggest adding more to your site namely Quality backlinks from, Paid Review Directories, Free directories, bookmarking sites, rss feeds. articles, press releases and all other forms of advertising available... A website is a continuous link building agenda... thx malcolm
You'd be suprised how high you can get with competitive keywords. Obviously if you go for words like "cash loans" or "Car rental" you need a good old trusted domain name to get the top spot + all the other serp ranking factors (including backlinks).
Just keep lurking and working, you will see there is always places where you can get a backlink from. You can stop...if the keyword you are targeting is not competitive, but if it is...stopping it will just get you down on the serps slowly...day after day.
As I and others have posted before, a simple link-building strategy is to check Digital Point's Directories > Solicitations and Announcements each day. There are always a few new directories, plus occasional sales and specials on existing ones, to submit to. If you do this daily, you will keep building links. And this being Digital Point, where professionals hang out , you will find in time that some of these directories will turn out to be high-quality ones giving you high-quality links with good PR. In all cases, you'll be increasing your links, which is good SEO and can only help your rankings.
You dont have the equation so i'd keep quiet. And if you'd bother to read my reply: I hit first page of google for over 15 keywords related to seo - I've done very little backlink building. Granted im below 200 for "seo" but that is to be expected.
Yep, that is good strategy. That is like the VC (venture capital) strategy of investing cheaply on many many startups-You just need a small % of those many startups to jump up to high-quality over time.
It's all about the links. Once you start getting traffic you can worry about building out quality content.
