i do a backlink for a site, and google index it. but the site rank where it was before. after several days, rank is up. more, when I remove the link, rank is still unmove, after a long time(maybe weeks or a month), the site drop. no other backlink add or deleted.

There's another post on the forums about this.

I think it's a good question: how fast does the power of a link take hold?

you must continue to build backlinks and google likes backlinks for long times.

in my opinion, a backlink will start to effect after 4 months

for me, any links that removes on a site has an effect...

if you want to take back again, just continue to get new inbound links to your site.

Mmm, I think 4 months might be a bit too inaccurate. I think even PR0 links take effect in a shorter time than that.

4 months to make a difference to pagerank, maybe. But surely the affect on serps is quicker, if a new link shows up in my webmaster tools, I would assume that it's doing it's stuff from then.

I am having two different experience. For one of my site it took only two weeks to get high SERP and good traffic from Google. In other case it took one to two months.

For first case I have done Blog Posting and Directory submission for link building. It was also properly On Page Optimized.
