page rank is like a bonus, if you want to make a link exchange with other website, the webmaster will look at your PR.

No problem, Jaree doesnt lose his temper :D Nothing to worry about  :D I was just amazed by that statement that PR0 outranked PR7. I am not a SEO guru or something like that but i am not a noob either, just so you know.

    You wait for Jaree ok!:D

It completely depends on the purpose of the site!

I have a few that I want #1 rankings for my keywords, but I also have a few that I want a PR of 10 on ;)

Example: If I'm trying to sell widgets then I want my site ranked #1 for the search term widgets. Yet if I want to sell links (or the entire domain/site) then PR is more important. And I think the most successful webmasters/internet marketers would agree with this ;)

Is my point so hard to understand :confussed: You go for one thing and master in it you get other for free without actually concentrating on it. If you get #1 rankings for your keyword and then check the PR you will find out that its kind of good and if you get PR10 and then you go check the ranking for your keyword you will find that you have pretty good SERPs

Anyone want to add to this or prove me wrong

See.. now I shall agree... Just get on with the SEO activities and PR will follow it is not a focus of a SEO Campaign

..and yes... it was seeing a PR0 out perform a PR7 that started me into looking deeper into the world of TBPR; which ended in a Rant; http://www.site-reference.com/articles/Search-Engines/The-Google-Toolbar-PageRank-Demystified.html

I simply hate the 'Cult of PR'......

    I agree somewhat ;)

Rankland asked what he should CONCENTRATE on. You have to agree that good SERPs don't necessarily mean maximum PR or vice versa. A site with good PR doesn't automatically mean it will rank well for the keywords that you want it to :) Therefore, what I meant was Rankland needs to CONCENTRATE on which one he/she needs the most. I personally would hate to have a high PR site that doesn't rank well for any of my main keywords, especially if I have a product to sell. ;)

Not true at all. I can take very competitive phrases with 50 links which will not give me much of a pr. Pr is based on quantity while rankings are based on quality. How can they be comparative?

I agree it is highly unlikely for a PR0 to outrank a PR7 as just a few links will give you a PR1 and it will take at least a few to outrank that PR7 yet it is possible and has happened before.

Please don't be arrogant about it either. From your posts you have alot to learn yet.

I agree that i have lot to learn i said that earlier that i am not an expert or anything like that. I am not saying that PR means good SERP but most of the time it do. I know it is possible to get good SERPS without getting good PR but when you do it normal way i mean build quality links you automaticaly get good PR. You just dont get my point my point is simple that do it in normal SEO mood and you will get both just by aiming for one. You just really confused me  but if you dont get my point i guess its better for me not to waste time here :D

Ok fine, you both got the right answers so please stop arguing here. We have different opinions so there is no wrong answer here.

Actually PR is somehow important so you must focus on your SERP, because if your SERP goes up, big return on income. So just continue building links

I have to agree with this. Backlinks from high power relevant websites is the best way to go. Why wast time getting links from baby sites (if you know what I mean). Take this for example, which is of the 2 links below is more powerful.

    2 Gift basket related websites

    1). Link from Giftbaskets.com = PR 7
    2). Link from Giftbaskets.com = PR 2

Well both are 100% relevant and both would provide good serps, but without question the pr 7 is more powerful in the eyes of google and will provide much better serps results than the pr 2 site. Why? Because the pr 7 is highly trusted by google and therefore will pass on some of that trust to your website, and there is a pretty good chance that you will get a pr 5 just from having that link, plus a larger boost in serps then if you had the link from the pr 2 site.

I look at this way, if you are going to have a website on the net then you should be doing everything in your power to make sure that you have a powerful website and that includes having both high pr and good rankings, if you are not willing to do that then you have no business being online. I'm not saying that you have to spend $1,000's in order to get good results, but don't you think that is a good idea to have a high power website of your own?

So, if I get it right "Higher Page Rank doesn't mean Higher number of visitors". It is just a visual display so that others can identify us.

SERPs are very important for a website. PR just depend on the data center and can be varied
