SERP - meta issue?

    Hey all,

Trying to figure out what's happening to SERPs for one of my brand keywords.

    SERP: https://www.google.com/search?q=languard&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:eek:fficial&client=firefox-a

The actual page (gfi.com/network-security-vulnerability-scanner) has a proper meta title, though for some reason when searching brand name, the SERP title is changed to GFI LANGuard.

Can anyone see where Google is picking this up from?

    Thanks guys!

Maybe one of your seo optimize your site in some error of your metas. Or there sre some hidden text that injects into you metas.

This isn't an error. I read about this on search engine land a while back. Sometimes when Google thinks your page title isn't relevant (or for some reason it thinks it can give a more relevant one it replaces it with it's own).

This has happened to my sites a few times, I've always found that it is when someone is doing a branded keyword search for one of my companies. Then what Google does is replace my keyword rich page title with the name of the company. I don't think there is anything you can do about it and to be honest. It's a bit annoying, but to be honest has only really been happening to me for branded search terms so am not too fussed ... at the moment.

Well I can see your title is pefecat on google SERPS. as Nate55 said this happen when your page dose not have excat match title to your website body content.try to increase relevency in your title tag then Google will remove auto generated title.

    Regards,
    bruce

Annoying that Google doesn't allow some form of control over this. Found this article in fact: searchenginewatch.com/article/2049990/Google-Changing-Titles-in-Search-Results-SEOs-Not-Happy

    Thanks all, much appreciated! :)

That is common, sometime when Google doesn't find your title suitable it automatically pick something that suits your web page more.
