Hi, Can anyone please tell why search engine listing title is different from Page title. I have checked DMOZ listing too but it is not pick up title from there. While checking "wholesaler" in Google there is displaying esources.co.uk site having "wholesaler" title in SERP but the page title is "Wholesale Suppliers & UK Wholesale Products Trade Directory"
It seems previously the title was just wholesaler and the new title has not yet been indexed by google. After google updates its index with new information available on your site, you will see the new title in search results.
dear rss01 Google have ability to change your website title in Google SERPs as per the highest relevance from your anchor text or any of your on page sources. please read following webmaster world thread for detail reference
Google takes some time to re-index a website that have changed its title. Some websites may see a huge lag cause Google is crawling and indexing them after a long time (due to lack of fresh content)
Actually there is an another reason too, and i have noticed it for some of my clients. google is testing is out title generated from the page rather than taking the title from the title tag, just like they have done for meta description. very soon google shall implement it in all the sites.
I think this is a really bad move from Google. It's taking away the control webmasters have over what they want their potential users to see in the SERPs. Page title is the best way to make your website stand out against the rest of the results and give a call to action etc.
Ya... I think it's a bad move too ( Google Adjusting titles ). But we can't be sure just yet. Google is the king of algo so they may be able to come up with titles that are better and more appropriate that the original title. Say someone is attacking for these key words and uses a title of Title: " Stock Market, Stock Market News, Stock Market Analysis " Google might condense that into: " Stock Market News, and Analysis " which I think would be better for the user. It would surely be easier on my eyes and I think that's what Google is getting at. Guess we will just have to see how it plays out.
Thats essentially what Google want though, they want full purity in the sense that results are only affected by those not directly involved with the website itself, strange but true!
I think there is some problem, although its indexing problem by Google. You can submit your query in Google webmaster tool.
