Maybe google finds more backlinks, are you building backlinks recently?

No one can tell correct reason for this problem, because no one can't no the strategy of Google. Check your back links in webmaster tools, and do not promote a single keyword for a long time, rotate the keywords to promote your site because promoting a single keyword for a long time becomes Anchor Spamming.

this maybe due to the competition of that keywords for that particular search engine and also only a few backlinks that point to your site

Long term SEO is not a anchor spam, I am saying that when your site is not more than 20 to 40 pages, and you are using only one keyword to promote your site for a long time then there may be a chance to become anchor spam.

I guess many of your competitors are doing a hard time optimizing their websites. Just don't stop building links.

Did you work on off-page SEO recently? Maybe your competitors work harder than you. So your serp positions dropped in .com which is more competitive.

I encountered the same situation almost but I didnt have any traffic from other localized Google domains ever. So, when I lost the ranks I queried over so many platform but I did not get a satisfactory reply. Then I started back to analyze my activities and re-targeted my keywords, modified some content and on-page issues..the result is, after a month I got my new keywords in improving ranks and the dropped keywords are also back.

It can be like this sometimes, just when you think you are making progress, suddenly the traffic slows down. It's Hard to run a business without knowing if your traffic is going to be stable, then again I guess that's what the internet is like...

Temporary? Try waiting it out for a day or two. Google might be altering your SERP (up or down).
