That's easier said than done when you are losing $36 per day on average :(

Every active site should be adding backlinks on a regular basis as people find the site and link to it, as links spread through blog posts or DP signatures. I don't think SERPs are paused when backlinks are reviewed.

Backlinks are found pretty fast if they are quality.

Hey - I moved my website up to #3 on page one, in one week, from #300 on page 30.

If I can move up 10 pages in a week, somebody can just as easily move down a full page all of a sudden.

Actually made it all the way to number one in a couple of more days.

And how? By adding an "s" to one of my keywords in several places.

    How competitive were the keywords?

That happens to a lot of new sites.

When the site is new you get a pop and if the site doesn't build enough in bound links it drops hard.

it also drops hard if the site gets lots of useless/not-relevant links...

Yes, it is natural, sometimes it is because of Google Dance, SERPs fall from the top ranks to the lowest rank possible.

keep in mind that Google is always trying to return the best search results. So before asking why your site has dropped, look at your site, read your content, is it really helpful for whoever lands on this page?

My site just dropped from 35th position to 91...not happy! It was 35th position for a few weeks, so I thought it looked pretty stable and I was attempting to build upon this position - but now, its slipped! O well, keep at it I suppose!

    hi all,

just wanted to add another voice to those who are experiencing similar discrepancies. Almost all the sites that I have made recently are jumping like crazy not only in Google, but in Yahoo also!

To make matters even more perculiar, they are doing a similar 'dance'.

Are Google and Yahoo working in cahoot?

The Google dance though is alot more 'jiggy'. Last night my site for the search terms 'ayia napa' was on page 12, today it is on page 37, this evening it may be on page 17.

    Is this normal?

The same is happening to another site of mine with the terms 'watersports cyprus', one day it is on page 6, the next day on page 17 and then the next day on page 8.

How does one go about making sense out of this behavoir?

Today I decided to do some searching and low and behold there are many others experiencing the same thing.

The sites I would say are rich in content regarding what they promote, though neither has much link building.

I really hope to further my understanding into SEO, but the behaivoir I am currently experiencing does not fall into any sort of cognitive model that I am aware of

    regards

    Andrew

As long as the site is ranking I wouldn't worry about it.
