Recently I have had a drop in SERP on my site after a few pages occupying the front page for a while. I can't tell why the results have suddenly disappeared. Looking in google sitemaps I notice that nearly everything I write on my site seems to go into the Supplemental Results after about a week or so. So I guess this is what is messing with my SERP. I really have no clues as to why this is happening though - so would be really grateful is someone could help me out... http://www.thethoughts.co.uk
Some of the content has been submitted to content directories (as recommended by this forum). But these are not the same articles as I was previously getting good google results from. As for the domain - I think it is registered until 2008 or 2009 now, I originally brought it for a 4 year term I think. Would this really make much difference if I extended it to 2010 or 2012 or something?
It has happened with my site also. Go for complete link building serivce tht would help you in increasing the SERP
Ok thanks. So where do I find a complete link building service? And are there any you would recommend?
Ok I will give them a look. So a lack of backlinks to the site will cause articles to go supplemental? Does this mean that every single article I write will need a bunch of backlinks everytime? Also, how come my articles get SERPs on the front page for 10days or so even without any backlinks?
If you have a look at what Goooogle is returning for your supplemental results you will see the problem. Gooogle is seeing the same content over and over again for all these new pages you are creating, so naturally you have tripped the supplemental filters (which are basically similarity filters). Have a look at your coding to see why this is and fix the problem.. that will remove the pages from the supplemental index.
Ahh. That would be because of the navigation code - which is placed above the content. Not sure how easy that is to change...but it would explain the problem for sure! Thanks...
you can read http://www.seo4fun.com/notes/supplementals.html to avoid your pages from supplemental results
Thanks. I just realised something. Would Google see this post as "Blackhat"? http://www.thethoughts.co.uk/thoughts/www-my-space-com/ It wasn't intended to be blackhat - but after reading up more on SEO I am now left wondering if this is the cause of my recent problems?
