I was bored so typed in exam in Google. Now the 1st result is http://www.doenets.lk/ and I thought that was a bit odd. Went to the page and looked at the source and saw javascript and frames being used. Am wondering how it managed the #1 SERP for the work "exam" based on that layout. It does have over 1000 backlinks, though there are multiple backlinks from some domains. Your thoughts?
The backlinks are relevant, most consists of examinations keywords. I believe this is also an important factor for its ranking.
Well if you read this forum (ie the SEO section) and just on general best practices, having frames is a not recommended at all. Add that with the Javascript, you have a pretty ugly SEO. Check the Source if you havn't done so already. I find it interesting that backlinks alone would push such a site to #1. If this was the case, then for Google at least, all a webmaster needs to do is get as many backlinks as possible (with proper keywords of course) and hit #1 in SERPs that way.
If they are using blck hat methods then we won't be siing their site listed that high for much longer
Are those 1,000 backlinks from Google's "link:" search operator? If so, your only seeing a small portion of the backlinks Google is acknowledging that site has, only the true backlinks can be view via your Webmasters Central Account that has been verified for that site. Also, no one mentioned how old the domain was, nor how many indexed pages or pagerank. Remember, many factors deterimine SERPs.
