About 3 weeks ago I read an ebook by Seth Godin He is now experimenting on a new concept called Lens. What it does is similar to blogging, only that you just create ONE page with links to your interests. An example lens here He had created squidoo.com and it's in beta. It's like the ol' geocities but now people will create lens rather than website. Do you guys think this would be the next thing after blog concept. Could it be the next wave and should we start thinking of creating a community of people to do lensing on our site ? I can't remember where I downloaded that ebook but you can still go to his blog and download it from there.
Yup, the idea is like this. If you are an expert on cat, your outbound links ie your lens would be more credible than just any other website on the planet that talks about cats. And your lens will only be 1 page It saves users time to find quality site & information. The idea is everyone is an expert on something.
If that Seth guy says it's the future than I believe it because he looks like that StarTrek guy, who is from the future.
How is this "lens" different from a human edited directory like the ODP, and being edited by humans comes with all the bias to which humans are subjected.
It's simply a profile page. Big deal. People won't be able to keep short and succinct. I can't imagine having my life wrapped up into a single page. How to maintain a theme? Ultimately you'll have a professional lens, a personal lens, a social lens, and whoa, it's now 3 pages which looks remarkably like a "site"
