Need some quick time help>>>>>> Some b*tthole is using my email address to submit to every damn ffa, directory and search engine on the damn net! I am being bombarded with thank you emails from all these sites> How can I report the site for doing this? And stopping all the emails?
I would assume the emails have the sites domain name, so just email the owner (check whois is no email address is on the site). Most of these directories only send one or two emails, so contacting them would probably be a waste of time. I had some idiot sign up for a mortgage loan using my email, got on some mailing list, and I've been getting emails for the last 2 years. I use outlook, so I created a rule that automatically sends any email with this particular persons name to the trash. There's probably not a whole lot more that you can do. Depending on who you are using for email, you might be able to report the emails as spam.
I went to the site and sent an email. But doubt if it will do any good as the email was a yahoo address. Hard to hit the old blocking when 250+ emails from different addresses hit. But on the good side, all those emails I got that said :confirmation needed: will keep that site from those sites! Going to do a whois now. Thanks
lol... murder charges are still murder charges unfortunately.... you might get a lighter sentence for proving your were under duress. Email the submission sites, tell them your address is being used illegally, they should track the IP address that is being used to submit them... then you can track the IP address to the person's ISP, from there, contact the ISP and let them know if it doesn't stop you will be phoning your lawyer... Then they will cut off the user's internet access. That's what I'd do anyways.
Doing all the things. Just reported the site to the registrar of record, enom. Hunted down the isp and reported to them. Told both, besides the site email, that an attorney would be contacted if this continues on. Will see what happens.
Install some spam software and get it to filter all the emails. Or get a new email address and do a bounce from the old one to say it no longer exists.
Having fun, don't know what it will do. Took the email off the site, used it to submit a well known site to every directory, ffa, etc in my submitters. Can't use anything to block the emails, as the ones from directories and search engines, I use.
i dont understand why people still submit to search engines? Don't they understand the concept behind the word "web".
They do not need to view an email address like info@your-site.co.cr to spam the world with it. All they need is to know that your-site.co.cr exists. Are you going to hide your site ? Jean-Luc
You create an email address that is unique, not the standard "info" and use a script like FormMail.pl to handle all contact requests. Your email address is hidden and can be set to only forward mail coming from your domain (via the contact form). You set all other mail to be rejected or go the "blackhole". It greatly reduces spam, and the only problem you will have is if you use it to submit to a directory, etc., and they sell or share the address. In that event, you can always change to another email address.
Did you have the email address on a web page using a mail to link? If so, you might want to consider setting a mail to form.
What i usually try is getting hold of their ip address and doing a net send message to it. If they have messenger service (not msn) turned on...theyll get a popup on their machine. You can send very abusive messages...
But I contacted each search engine ( who just sent confirmation emails, so the site won't show up in them) and directory. Explained to them what happened. And please remove the site if they added to their site. And ban the ip, the site, etc from submitting again. Quite a few sent me nice emails back thanking me and that they removed the site, they banned the ip and the site from ever submitting again. FFA's I just deleted their messages, as these people don't give a rat's ass about who submits what using what email, etc. So far today, no emails about this. So maybe I stopped it for good...hopefully. Yes, I resported the site, etc to their ISP and their hosting company. Plus to the registrar of their site. Thanks to all with a suggestion, now please let us lock, close or delete this thread.
its almost funny that you most likly paid for this to happen to you. you should ask more questions from people in which you hire to do services for you. think of your websites like your children. when you take them to the doctor, would you let the doctor jsut start cutting into your kid, or would you be like "WTF ARE YOU DOING??!?!?!?"
