Series of payments following one transaction - Is it possible?

I'd like to integrate PayPal payments for a website I'm developing for a client. There needs to be a membership access portal on the site, whereby users of this portal buy memberships, and my client needs the payment processing system to take a series of payments following one transaction (ie. weekly membership cost for a fixed period).

Is this possible with PayPal, as I wonder if PayPal might only specialise in single payments?

With a personal account it's not possible anymore. They used to facilitate subscription payments.

 

So it has to be a business account?

 

Yup it's a Premier and Business Account feature.
