I see that the Buy & Sell Programming section is getting cluttered with all kinds of programming jobs from PHP and Mysql (dominating) to XML, Javascript, Java, desktop programming and even Android programming. I, as an experienced PHP programmer, looking for clients, am having hard time navigating through this section of the forum. One solution would be to create subcategories for PHP, C++, Java or other popular scripting languages, or to create title tags (similar to WTS and WTB) that will describe the programming language of the job without having to click through the thread (some clients even don't mention the programming language in the thread itself). Regards!
Good suggestion. I definitely support you on this.. Time is of the essence when offering your services to potential clients and time wasted seeking out your field from amongst hundreds of unmatched clients must be pretty frustrating.. (And time wasting). Good call sir!
I like the tag idea but even then I'm not sure we'd be able to keep up. If you need a wordpress plugin you know it'll be PHP but it might also be jquery which is technically javascript. I'm working on an integration at the moment which uses XML to api calls from a cakePHP system up to a phpLists install. I'm using javascript so that the user has a gui worth using. How would I set that up. Not meaning to be difficult but to get a system that stands the test of time we have to throw ideas around.
It would probably be better is the thread starter actually used the tag option... then they tag a project as "PHP", "jQuery" and "XML", etc... You could filter stuff based on a specific tag. The problem is getting people to actually use it though.
How about you force them to use it? And if people want so badly to not use a tag they could simply select Other and separate the threads that fall outside any of the popular categories (PHP, Java, Javascript, XML, Wordpress, Android, C++). It would be easier to ignore these few threads with "Other" in their title than pick from the long list of tagless threads which float in the section right now. (with useful titles like "small fix wanted" or "quality website design" or "My site is broken") I just realized that the Programming section has subcategories for the most popular programming languages. I don't see why BST threads are less important and this is not implemented there too.
