Hellow fellow DP'ers, This afternoon whilst browsing the links coming into our website; I noticed a new Twitter comment with a link coming in, so I decided to check it out. And when I read it, I just laughed - it read the following: "lol apparently they do not. Though some people go out of their way to be unPC http://www.seotard.com/index.php" I didn't know what "unPC" meant, so I did a quick search and I found http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Un-pc - and on there it says: "1. Un-pc " Expression: "buy un-pc mugs, tshirts and magnets" Meaning: politically incorrect Do you think that "SEOTard" is a politically incorrect business name? Let me know your thoughts!
It may be politically incorrect, but it's funny. You can actually brand it pretty well if you do it tastefully.
I don't really believe its "politically incorrect" - I just think it's a unique name that could be branded very nicely
There's certainly brand-ability with the name -- but if you're trying to market yourself as "professional," I think you might do better with a better name. Incidentally, "tard" (granted it's highly incorrect and unprofessional) is associated with incompetence. I doubt this is the image you want to portray . Irony doesn't go far in business, especially when your name is often all you have.
I'm with Travis. I bet a lot of businesspeople would pass up doing business with a company name like that. It's not so much that it is politically incorrect and would offend them, more that it sounds kind of immature. However you do have a nice website and the name might even attract certain people. So who knows!
I agree. It might sound like a good name for a personal blog or similar, but I would never use it for a serious website. It just doesn't sound professional and I would not feel safe spending my money on it as a customer.
You could have chosen a far far better name man . I mean imagine you get a PM sounding like this "Dear Tard" or misspelled in "Dear Turd" . It doesn't pay you any favors to have a name that links to the word "retard" .
Whilst I appreciate the feedback, I sadly have to disagree with pretty much... all of you! Whilst some people find the name politically incorrect, or somewhat related to 're-tard', I find it great as a unique marketing position, especially being a freelancer and not having a 'company' of staff members.
Because I still wanted the feedback; just because I disagree with the view that some people take to it, doesn't mean I don't appreciate the feedback
