You are correct drig, however you can use older domains to add links from and tell the world about this SEO contest.

 

no offence but your scoring system seems to put equal weight on getting #1 on MSN & Yahoo as it does on Google?

someone could hold #1 on MSN #1 on Yahoo and walk away with the prize without even listing in Google.... hardly an SEO champion

I promise you Solicitors Mortgages that we have discussed that scenario as well.

Here is how we see it:
If the people in the top 10 in Google can not get top 10 positions in either Yahoo or MSN then they have missed the whole point of the contest.
So therefore just adding links to your site may help a lot in Google but to get to the top 10 in all of the three search engines you need some skills and you need to plan a little bit more.
My guess is that we will not see your scenario actually, I doubt that the winner of this contest ranks as number 1 on Yahoo and MSN and totally forgets about Google.

I am sure that everyone will use their made up tactic anyway, so all we can do now is speculate which one will be the best.

promotion of this contest is very well done, also seen some sponsored listing on google.

 

The new thing in this contest is that you have to be able to rank well in all 3 search engines for the keyword.
To master Google, Yahoo and MSN combined is not an easy task even for a SEO professional. We will problably see some new methods beeing used in this contest. New methods regarding SEO is going to interest everyone that does SEO themselves.

Our goal is to make it the most prestigious SEO contest of all time. The SEO World Championship is also going to be an annual event. If the contest goes well in 2007 we will hopefuly be able to give out even better prices the next year. That way the contest will get more prestigious each year.

I must be missunderstanding the concept of SEO. There was me thinking something like 75% of seaches go thru Google and yet it is equally weighted in your scoring system with MSN... ...oh well.

If the scoring system wasn´t equally weighted and 75% of the weight was pointed towards ranking high in Google. Then it would only be all about Google. We are trying to avoid that as much as possible.
