Anyone can participate!
You can use different subpages for ranking in each search engine, but! you can not use different domains or subdomains. We are combining score for each domain.

Marcus your ranking script is really good but needs to be fixed to exclude domains registered on or before 15th Jan 13:00 EST. Its currently showing del.icio.us as #1

 

Wish I had known about this a few weeks in advance...would have been fun to get involved. What would be really cool is an SEO contest that goes after an already popular keyword. How do you compete with sites that are already entrenched in the serps? This contest is not going to end with any surprises. And seeing as though most sites involved are going to have spammy content or spammy links, real world implications are minimal...anywho

 

Your not to late by any means, it just started 3 days ago. Also, there were no results in google for the keywords prior to the launch of the contest. Also, domains registered before Jan 15th are not elidgible.

Are you going to fix the scoring script?? Just make a list of which domains are old and remove them from the scoring.. simple but works ..

I'm too late because I'm going on vacation and have no time to get involved...what I was saying about something different is pick a keyword that's hard to penetrate. A keyword with no results and no competition prior to the contest is going to lend itself to known spammy techniques. Now a keyword like 'baseball bat' could be interested in a different way and more challenging.

That said i'm going to pay more attention and hope to get in on the next contest...

 

Google Results Jump from 12700 to 55500 now

Now in 34th place out of all "globalwarming awareness2007" results (so that includes del.icio.us. (Sorry, I dont mean to brag, Im just excited). Going to drop a lot Im sure (going to stop link development and Im switching servers).

 

I didnt do any big link building till now, just 4-5 links to get indexed and iam at #12
