SEO vs Social Marketing?

I have created a social website design community site YouYap.com

it still beta.

I just started SEO marketing for it
i am not sure if I can get the word out faster using social marketing.

Which one is better?

 

SEO is long term solution. Social marketing gets loads of traffic but not quality traffic. Most social networks deliver untargeted traffic that just click through your site.

You can still do both, however, the SEO will deliver the search engine traffic that is real targeted traffic for the long term growth of your site.

 

SEO takes time for getting result.You can also try other marketing methods.

 

i read somewhere that social marketing is cheaper than SEO

 

i agree with this one... most traffic generated thru social marketing don't convert at all.

 

You need both! But Social bookmarking would be the faster approach.

 

You can get traffic but not quality traffic through social marketing. Organic seo is the best option. If you choose social marketing your second option then good.

 

Well if you want faster but temporary traffic use Social Marketing, but if you want slow but permanent traffic, just SEO it. For me, I may do both, I optimize my site while sharing it via social media or bookmarking.

SMO is a new technique on which we can use to our site but still SEO has a long lasting and a good result.

 

SEO anytime is best method get long term targeted traffic.

 

SEO is better for long term, stable traffic, but social marketing has a bigger potential of creating a meme or phenom type site. If you have something that's good enough to "catch on" social marketing will launch it much faster than SEO.

Digg is a good example of a phenom, it blew up big time. Myspace, fark, twitter and many others are examples of success that doesn't come from SEO. Just food for thought.

 

In the long-run SEO will be your cheapest form of traffic because it is so targeted.

 

social media you need to create a buzz that worth while that people would talk about ... classical example will be burger king once announced they discontinued their famous Whopper burger.. which created a huge buzz, it is sort of short term and doesn't last really long. But if your buzz is "strong" enough that you may end up server overload in that particular time frame.. : )

 

SEO would be better with some social marketing on the side but bear in mind social marketing requires you to be active...

 

I disagree that social networks deliver untargeted traffic. It depends on how and who you market to. Find groups on social networking sites that are related to your product and start there...don't just start bombarding them with links and offers, start slow...delivery something of quality to the community, join discussions, make intellectual comments....and then they will be more receptive to your offer.

1) SEO is gr8 for On page optimization and is definitely the best and reliable.
2) Additionally Social is a broad concept which i would say to go for. Its used mostly for branding and getting huge traffic. Many think Social gives untargeted traffic, but if u post in relevant area u will definitely get the results.
Social in broad concept : Social Networking + Social Bookmarking + Social News + Social Media Optimization if done well then definitely u can get gr8 results. Should be used for E-commerce and heavy sites as its very useful to get in connection with large amt of visitors. And also get the visitors back to ur site via Socializing. And the best part is u can directly get into touch with visitors which is the benefit of Social Marketing.

In one word it means ur promoting ur site if its worth.

All SEO's must go with SEM which covers SEO + Social Marketing,,,,,,,,,,,

 

you can't expect immediate result from seo
