Hi all My question is regarding Search Engine Optimization vs Search Engine Marketing (SEO vs SEM) Both are valuable & both are part of your web presence. But define what they are, how they can help, and how to utilize them. Also add which is better with reason. Waiting for your valuable tips... Thanks in advance. Regards,
I assume by SEM, you are referring to Pay per Click advertising. PPC has 2 main functions. It gets your brand visible (appears at the top of search results). That alone has value, it makes your brand look like its out there. PPC also has a fast and very measurable return on investment. PPC is good because you dont have to spend what you dont want to spend, you get your traffic, and you get your brand visible. It all depends on how competitive the keywords you target are. SEO, if done right, has a very good long term effect, and I recommend you learn about it and practice it whatever you are doing. The sooner you start this, the sooner you start to see the effect. Basically the only cost in this is your time (or that of your staff), and once you achieve rankings and domain trust and authority (get links from other sites), then that stays with your site/s until - 1.) you get a search engine penalty, which only happens if you use spammy tactics to try and shortcut the success of your site, such as buying or selling links, scraping content from other sites etc etc or 2.) your competitors get better at ranking than you, but even if they do, you still have all the work you have done counting toward your sites. To summarise, i'd say that SEO is your long term strategy, while PPC is your short term strategy. Good luck!

SEO is a website promotion strategy and SEM is a the practice of using Search Engine traffic as a primary source of visitors, through organic optimization and paid advertising.
