SEO Voodoo?

    I have recently begun to run into more and more clients that have the perception that SEO is "Voodoo" and I can not affect their SE rankings any more than the weather. Much of this sentiment seems to be created by the fact the the SEO industry as a whole has yet to come to any type of procedural consensus. I was wondering if anyone had some creative ideas to help me combat this trend, or hear from any of you that may be experiencing the same issues.

    Basicaly search engine specialist made it seem like voodoo. They tell people how hard it is and they have to know how to make certain tags and how to research this and that. The main idea was to make it seem so hard that everyone would hire them instead of trying to do it themself.

    Now people really believe them and either pay or just use PPC.

    Well, SEO sure takes a hell of a lot of time. I wouldn't say it's voodoo though.
