I'm creating a forum for the new Windows Phone 7, I just installed a mod that changes all of my URL's to keywords according to the title and it allows for a few different options... In you alls opinions, please tell me what you think is best for the "topic url's" and why? Option 1 (http://www.example.com/forum-title/topic-title/ or Option 2 (http://www.example.com/topic-title/ whichever option I use I have to stick with it for good. And of course I'd like to choose the best one. I read in some places that it's best to have short urls but my thought behind that differ.. Here is a live link to my website right now showing option 2: http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-...hone-7-copy-and-paste-for-developers-t30.html ................................................................................................................ windows-phone-7-news is the "forum title" windows-phone-7-copy-and-paste-for-developers-t30.html is the "topic title" ................................................................................................................ Would it be better to make the topic url this instead (non-active link)??? http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7-copy-and-paste-for-developers-t30.html Let me know what you guys think! ~ Justin
Seeing as how the keyword "windows phone 7 news" will be pretty much impossible to get noticed for I would say go with the "http://www.example.com/topic-title/" shorter is definitely better and I see no benefit to having the forum title in the URL as far as SEO goes.
thats what i was leaning towards.. because I have "windows-phone-7-news" as a direct link on my site already linking to that forum: http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7-news/ so to have the keyword "windows phone 7" in the url twice seems a bit repetitive and google might not like that. I'm no seo expert but I've been studying it for sometime now. Just wanted to get some 2nd opinions. Appreciate it
Go for the shorter url. This will place your keywords closer to the front of the url adding more weight.
If your domain not have keyword, try options 1. Example: 1. phone.com/best-phone-reviews 2. testing.com/phone/best-phone-reviews
I have one more question about this while were discussing it.. Though I don't think its going to matter one bit i still wanted to talk about it. this is what i had previously for the "forum-title/topic-title.html" for the view topic page (virtual folder): http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7-news/ when i changed it to no virtual folder "topic-title" only.. it now shows this: http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7-news.html Does the "/" at the end count for anything vs. the ".html" , or vice versa? I know its a bit of "in-depthness" to this conversation but I'm just curious if it effects it at all? Is it better to have .html at the end for search engine indexing?
SEO URL is According to work.. Like For Bookmark site = socialbookmark.com for movie site = mymoviecinema.com etc...
No, Im talking about the ending of the url... if its better to have ".html" or "/" at the end. does anyone know?
it should be like domain.com/tititle.html.It's the best for a normal site and domain.com/title/ if you have a huge web
It is a forum website., it has tons of potential growth. for example droidforums.net (android forum) ranks 6,302 website on Alexa. That means it is getting TONS of traffic... 200,000+ hits a day easily. So now I'm wondering what I should do... hmmmm
