I have phpbb/wordpress integration website and I have different SEO mods setup for both but both achieve similar goals. One problem I'm running into tho is my URL structure, and I know whichever structure I pick its going to be final. My phpbb website is in my root folder and my wordpress is folder is inside that root folder like this: /phpbb/wordpress/ , so the url would look something like this: http://www.example.com/wordpress/ My question is, should I change that "wordpress" folder to a main keyword instead? Will it play a big effect on how my site is displayed in search results? I would much rather have the wordpress and phpbb in both the root so I could bypass this problem but some of the file names are the same (i.e. index.php), so thats not really an option. the end result would look something like this: http://www.example.com/keyword-category/post-title as opposed to this: http://www.example.com/wordpress/post-title Let me know what you guys think my best option is
well, here is my real problem: the actual link to my wordpress site is http://www.phone7forum.com/categories (I had named it "categories" because I didn't really know what else to call it at the time). I know I need to re-name the categories to a better keyword (perhaps "wp7" since my website is base on the windows phone 7) but I'm confused on what i should name the "page folder" that would follow that? My 2 options are: phone7forum.com/wp7/wp7-games/ or phone7forum.com/wp7/games/ the final result to a page would be 1 of these 2 options: #1 - phone7forum.com/wp7/games/angry-birds.html or #2 - phone7forum.com/wp7/wp7-games/angry-birds.html It makes more sense to go with option 1.., now that kind of written everything out (lol) But still, what do you guys think??? option one seems better to me. use wp7 if people are likely to include that term in their search queries. otherwise, find a more suitable keyword.
well, honestly the keyword "windows-phone-7" is more search for and I already have it linked up in my forum pages.., these are actual links to my live site: http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7-games/ http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7-apps/ that being said, now that I'm integrating wordpress into the forum, I was thinking about going choosing the "wp7" keyword instead of the "windows phone 7" keyword since i already am using it. A question i have now is, do search engines see this: http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7-games/ different from how they see this: http://www.phone7forum.com/windows-phone-7/games/ or do they see that as a duplicate path?
From the options above, I don't see any difference in your seo affect of the url structure. To be honest, you're WAY over thinking this...lol. Don't worry so much about the difference between "windows-7-games" and "windows-7/games" because there is none. It's the actual conversations, title tags, and links pointing to that page that are going to make it rank. By the way, when you build links to this page, use good methods. Google's new algorithm blasted tons of spammers and is still going.
yea.. lol, i kno i am.... i kno the url is just one small portion of it, just wanted to make sure i get this thing right. What do you mean by good methods of link building?? They way I was going to do it was to just keep posting good key-worded links around in forums/ directories/ blogs/ and then shoot for the high rank google pages to possibly link exchange. I would never do any evil spamming
