    Hi

I was wondering which course I could do to help me with SEO and Internet Marketing? (besides DP :))

Which diploma or degree will help me if I would want to apply for a job at an SEO company?

    Thanks

I would say experience and proven results are the only thing that will help. If you dont have any clients than build a couple websites and get some good rankings going. Then start looking for a job.

Otherwise look for a company that is offering on the job training.

you could go for a marketing degree or internet merketing degree
however, I started four years ago with no computer skills. Today by working with people who are SEO's reading a lot and getting some clients I can officially charge people for my services and deliver results. I also took a lot of classes at the internation webmasters association. Very helpful and cost effective at 80-150 dollars for six week courses.

I think that learning how to seotize webpages and website is one of those things that you learn over time. There is no crash course. One reason for this is that is takes a while to see the results of your seotizing work filter into results.

    Good luck

The courses I like the best are offered in life to anyone who wants to learn...

Education through experience, Experience through education, Knowledge, Unique Ideas, Idea Implementation, Continuing Education

    1. Education through experience - Build your own sites and test out different strategies until you grasp many of the basic ones. Begin to study more advanced on and off page techniques and then test those too!

    2. Experience through education - Read as much as you can on your particular areas of interest (ppc, organic seo, consulting, linking etc.) and participate on blogs and forums as much as possible. Read tutorials and books on related material including web design, usability, statistics and programming.

    3. Knowledge - Soak up as much as you can through your reading and study so that you become as knowledgeable as possible in your areas of interest or a niche (like mobile seo, blog seo etc). This is where you can actually refer to yourself as a guru as you should have already proven to be good at driving traffic and increasing rankings through the education and experience stages.

    4. Unique Ideas - Take all your education, experience, knowledge and try to create or think up several ideas that would change your industry or help you further become classified as a guru. Unique ideas can make a big difference as there are already many in the industry doing the non-unique stuff.

    5. Idea Implementation - This stage should be the 'prove all' in your abilities and understanding of the strategies and techniques you have learned along the way. Build your idea site and market it to the very best of your ability using all the things you have learned. If it is a success, you are sure to get work for yourself and be payed a good amount. Try to duplicate this process with as many of the unique ideas that you came up with in that stage.

    6. Continuing Education - Branch out into new areas and continue to learn and soak up as much information as you can related to what you specialize in. Use other professionals who you have met along the way to network with and gain new knowledge, ideas and experience from. Test your new ideas and market them so you can keep building your name and network. Read books, blogs and forums on your subject matters and branch out to other resources that might not have been 'priority' in your education and experience stages.

I did the Advanced SEO course over at SearchEngineCollege.com a while back.

Bit of a waste of money if you are already pretty familiar with the search engines, to be honest. I don't know if the course has changed at all, I was one of the first students to complete the online course.

If your looking to make your SEO resume more attractive, make sure you have good results for current personal sites you are working on. Nothing speaks louder then proven results.

Experience is key. That being said, if you are really looking for a certification you could check out http://www.onlinewebtraining.com/. Its owned and taught by Jerry West, John Alexander, and Robin Nobles. Which I consider three fairly reputable people. Its a 16 week or 32 week course (depending on if you need just the advanced or basic course or the basic and advanced courses together. You can get college credit from it too.

Remember though experience is everything and finding your own knowledge through research and experimentation is really valuable.
