It doesn't effect allot. It's a priority rate on the listings. .Com's are more professionals work.

But it's nothing to do with seo it's totally about marketing.

You always need to research your keywords density and also try to reduce the tight competition of others competitors sites as well.

For this, you can use the "Keywords Playground" to investigate the keywords that have the highest searches throughout the month.

It's true any tld can get high status (assuming high status means good rankings).

There are no good/bad TLDs when it comes to SEO, other than if the TLD is part of the SERP: if your after a SERP like "UK Widgets" then a .co.uk or any TLD with UK in it will help with that type of SERP. But this is no difference to having UK in the domain name like widgets-uk.com to widgets.co.uk in (1st is a little better because Widgets and UK are together).

I don't specifically target the SERP

    adsense themes uk

But because UK is within the domain name (the TLD) it's helped my site gain number one in Google.

So from an SEO perspective only the TLD is irrelevant.

That's not to say there aren't good reasons for going with particular tlds. edu, gov are considered to be trustworthy sites by webmasters (I have no evidence to suggest Google thinks this way) so if I was trying to sell links edu and gov sites are going to sell the best (not that I could legally buy gov and edu domains, but that's no the point).

Due to the cheap $2 info domains that have been used a LOT by poor quality sites there's a tendency to assume a site on an info domain is low quality (again no evidence Google thinks this way). It's not always true, but the perception is there in the eyes of many webmasters so I no longer buy info domains for serious websites. My first choice is .co.uk since I'm UK based and it helps with UK SERPs as described above.

Interesting question I hadn't thought about before -- using Dashes in the URL.

If google can separate the words, is it better not to use dases? what if the words run together in a confusing way, for example

    thesellershack.com

Is that seller? hack? or shack?
