Optimize your website for keywords that are highly related with your website content. Create a sitemap file for your website. You can develop content by writing articles because content is king so write An Article and Submit to Article Directories, and Press Release also. You can also do this one Linking Strategy - Reciprocal and one way link building campaigns. Build up social media optimization strategy.

Just finished my first web-site after suffering from the Newbie syndrome of reading for months and doing nothing. Thought I would share with you what I did and hopefully get some feed-back and new ideas.

1- Created a 6 page content site using WP including a blog
2- Configured SEO Platinum, XML Sitemap and Permalinks for the site and blog.
3- On the site included five outgoing links to high PR authority sites related to the niche.
4- Monetized it with a CPA offer.
5- Submitted it to all the major search engines.
6- Uploaded sitemap to Google webmasters and verified it
7- Verified it with Google analytics and inserted tracking codes.
8- Created 3 videos for inclusion on the site and submitted them to the top 10 video hosting sites with link-backs.
9- Created a Squidoo Lens, Hub Page and Google Knol , including the videos, linked them all to each other and back to the main site.
10- Submitted above three to dig (note all with separate content)
11- Submitted the blog to Technoratri
12- Submitted the site to dmoz Open Directory and Yahoo Directory.
13- Submitted the blog to Free Traffic System for updated content.
14- Set up my own posts at one every two days for two weeks.
15- Submitted relevant comment content with link-back to 30 blogs related to niche
16- Submitted site to top 15 social bookmarking sites
17- Submitted videos to top 15 social bookmarking sites.
18- Submitted two different relevant articles each to the top 3 article directories.
19- Submitted two different relevant articles to Unique Article Wizard which will spin them and submit them each to at least 600 directories (allegedly)
20- Submitted a new article to Free Traffic System
21- Had the site reviewed by my fellow warriors.
22- Set Up a Rss feed
    23- Register with feed burner
    24- Add to feedagg

This is a good list, but it is a very basic list. You are only scratching the surface. This list will get you indexed but may not get a top 10 ranking.

You need to add something that will get a lot of powerful backlinks otherwise you'll have done so much work for little return.

So where you have put "Article Submission" make sure you use Unique Article Wizard, there isn't any other article submitter that even comes close to it.

Then you need real power and for that I recommend LinkFarmEvolution.com

I'm not affiliated with either of these companies, I just know that they work because I have used Unique Article Wizard and a service very similar to Link Farm Evolution.

Thanks sloth456, I need to get the basic right first before I can do anything else ;).

But can anyone answer some of those questions I mentioned on my list please?

    Yes

Look into gsitecrawler, it will create one, it will also create a html sitemap. Upload it to your site, then let google know about them by getting a google webmasters account and submitting your sitemaps to it.

This is not essential, I would only create one if I had regularly updated content like a blog. Otherwise don't bother.

Off page optimisation refers to all forms of SEO practice that are not performed on the site itself. So for example "link building" is off site optimisation. In fact link building IS off site optimisation, I don't really know of any other off site optimisation.

"do-follow" refers to the type of link attained. There is such a thing as a "no-follow" link, which is coded in such a way that google will not factor in the link when calculating final rank. Many blog's automatically change comment links into "no-follow" links, thus commenting on them would be a waste of time in terms of improving rank. You can do a search on digitalpoint for a list of "do-follow" blogs to comment on.

There are many sites that will allow you to put your link up for free, e.g. forums and blogs. Social bookmarking sites are sites where people share their favourite sites with others. There are 100's of "site sharing sites/social bookmarking sites" which makes for a good resource for getting links. All that is normally required is to join each site and fill in a form to share your site, thus you get a free link. Go to digg.com to find such a site and see if you can see how to add your website. You can search for a list of social bookmarking sites on digitalpoint, join them all and add your site to them.

Article directories are sites that host hundreds of articles usually written by other people as a way of sharing information. Article directories usually allow the author to link to their own website form the article. If you write an article and put it in all the article directories you can get yourself around a thousand links. Try ezinearticles.com tand submit your first article with a link to your website. Then sign up to the other article directories and put an article in each. Once again you can usually find a list of article directories by searching digitalpoint.

directorycritic.com keeps a list of active directories to submit to.

    The Foundation of Successful SEO

The foundation of a successful SEO program consists of the following building blocks:

    * Keyword-rich text. The majority of a site's pages should contain the words and phrases the target audience types into search queries. Pages should appear somewhat focused on these important keyword phrases, and the phrases should be featured prominently on the page. Otherwise, the page won't convert well or receive consistent search engine traffic over time. Keyword research and copywriting for individual HTML tags are a part of this building block.

    * Information/site architecture and page layout. Search engines and end users must be given easy access to keyword-rich content. How text, graphic images, and multimedia files are arranged on a page tells search engines and site visitors which content the site owner believes is most important. URL structure and technical architecture figure into that as well.

    * Link development. Commonly referred to as link popularity, this is the number and quality of objective, third-party links pointing to a URL or Web site. Of course, not all links pointing to a site are objective, third-party links, but those types of links aren't always the most credible.

    Keyword-Rich Text

Since optimization is centered on query-based searches on the Web search engines, many SEO professionals feel SEO's core is text. It's a logical conclusion, since searchers must type text into a search box to receive document information.

To find these phrases search for "free keyword tool" and put in a word that is related to your website subject. It will come back with a list of phrases based on that word and the number of daily searches.

    Hello,

Gone are the days when directory submissions were mandatory for link building, these days there are many other methods to build some juicy back links.

There are some of them like :

    *Web 2.0(Social Media promotion).
    *Press release submissions.
    *Manual social bookmarking.
    *Article writing + submissions.
    *Blog comments.
    *Deep Link Submissions.

    and many more...

These services will help in developing juicy back links for your site which will improve its ranking in search engines. They are very efficacious in promoting a site and there by giving it a boost.

As a result of which page rank improvises and hence number of visitors also increases.

These are purely white hat techniques and full y compatible with google standards.

    Hope this helps you.:)

    regards
    Sripat

Make sure you spend a lot of time analyzing the competition within your industry. You have got to find keywords in the early stages that you can easily compete for. This will ultimately help drive links to your site if you have good content. start small and you can chip away at the larger terms.

It is better to get backlinks from your niche sources. In my experience, getting backlinks from related niche will give you referral traffic as well as will give you strong backlink for organic traffic too. So, participate in your niche related forums, blogs and etc. Specially, do some more article submissions too.

Analyze well before you do onpage optimization for your site, like title, keyword, and site description should be optimized right. Then after that you need to build quality and relevant back link to your site, which automatically helps your site been crawled by google and yahoo.
