Hi, I am building a website for a family member hosted through godaddy. What is my first step with seo ? I noticed that in my godaddy administration there is something called launch google tools but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Your first step should be to thoroughly analyze potential keywords. You can't do much until you know what specific keywords you want to target with each page. If you choose the keywords after, you have to go back and change everything which can be a lot of work. Try one or two of these keyword tools: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/ http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ If you need help finding keywords, check which phrases your competitors are targeting. You need to find good keywords that have a decent amount of search volume but are not too competitive that you wouldn't be able to get on the 1st page on Google.
After you make a research for keywords, SEO Tools wich you can also use on this free website: http://www.seoforum.ws/google_suggestion_tool.php . I suggest you use also http://www.seoforum.ws/link_suggestions.php to find relevant web directories/websites for the keywords you want to target. Let me know if i can help you with more information. .jik
